La Matassina Bed&Breakfast was born from the ruins of an old farmhouse dating back to 1870. It was bought by our grandparents in 1960 and later, as our family grew bigger, some modifications to extend the house were carried out.
Today, moved by our dream to turn the structure into a cosy and “green” B&B, we decided to have it restored and built up entirely in wood using sustainable materials.
Un b&b eco-friendly
The aerated roof enables the building not to hold humidity within. The window fixtures, entirely in PVC, permit a higher thermal and acoustic insulation, and last but not least, the solar and photovoltaic panels guarantee respectively hot water and electric power just by exploiting the sun.
The architecture maintains the distinctive look of a Tuscan farmhouse: the attic, for example, is made up of century–old cotto bricks recovered from the original structure and the arches are typical of many Tuscan farmsteads.
Our common spaces
The interiors of our Bed&Breakfast are smartly finished and designed, showing a modern style together with some country accessories from past times.
Colours represent a distinctive peculiarity of our structure, characterising and differentiating each of our common rooms and 6 bedrooms: The reception walls at the entrance are painted with a particular sky blue. Here we will have the pleasure to welcome you and take you to your room.
Right next to our dining room is the cooking area, our guests’ kitchen: a large room composed of a long kitchen island with four cookers, sinks and countertops, six personalized fridges, one for each room, and six cupboards offering any kind of flatware like dishes, glasses, cups and cutlery. In the kitchen you can find any cooking tool you need, including a wonderful and modern coffee machine, to conclude your lunch or dinner with taste!
Our B&Boffers our guests a <strong>rich breakfast in our stunning sunroom (which can also be used for lunch or dinner). You can enjoy an excellent breakfast our staff will prepare for you in the sunroom or winter garden, a large hall on the ground floor surrounded by big glass walls overlooking a relaxing landscape of hills and green areas including our garden with pool.
In the sunroom you can find tables dedicated to each bedroom, a wide counter where you can choose what to taste for breakfast from our wide offer including cakes, salty dishes, yoghurt or fruit next to a great espresso, decaf, ginseng coffee or coffee of barley, or, if you prefer, an excellent tea, cappuccino or fruit juice.
